Instructor Application and InformationThe First Year Experience (FYE) Program is seeking outstanding faculty, staff and graduate students to serve as Instructors, Co-Instructors and Assistant Instructors for the FYE course (AMS 1363). FYE is designed for incoming freshmen students and deals with transition issues, academic success, health and safety, student involvement, values and leadership, and knowledge of campus resources. FYE classes are offered during Summer C and Fall semesters and have an average of 20-25 students. FYE classes are one credit (900 minutes total), satisfactory/unsatisfactory based, and use a customized FSU text and activity book. Instructor or Co-Instructor positions require a master's degree and Assistant Instructors must have a bachelor's degree. Each class has an instructional team which includes an undergraduate peer leader. Instructor training is provided to cover all aspects of the class. If you are interested in being part of this valuable experience, please complete the application and return it to the FYE office at the address above, fax to 644-0687, send via campus mail (mail code 2440) or on line at http://www.fye.fsu.edu/applications.htm. All first-time applicants are required to also submit a resume or vita and participate in an interview. Please sign up for your interview by the January 25th application deadline by contacting Jan Daly, Assistant Dean of Students and Director, FYE, at 644-0820 or through email at jdaly@admin.fsu.edu or by stopping by the FYE office. As an instructor with the FYE program you will have an opportunity to connect and affect the lives of new students at FSU in a profound way. In many cases FYE instructors have the first chance to model the best that FSU has to offer students. Instructors have the opportunity to create curriculmn, prepare students for the college experience, mentor peer leaders and promote campus services to incoming students. Instructor Timeline2008 Instructor applications are now closed. Please contact Jan Daly with any questions or concerns. If you have submitted an application, please remember to schedule an interview with Jan Daly (644-0820).
